Summer in Cape Town has lots to offer in the music vein. Starting with the Kirstenbosch Summer Sunset Concerts presented by Old Mutual. A bit of an institution now in Cape Town and for good reason. Set right under Table Mountain in these spectacular Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens on a huge sloping lawn with outdoor stage, the music brings together an amazing experience. Take your whole family, your own picnic and enjoy some summertime vibes from afternoon until dark. It doesn’t get more laid back than this. The concerts happen each Sunday evening from November until April. Next up is Jesse Clegg (son of the legendary Johnny) on Dec 6.

Then the newly launched Aqua Festival, on at the V&A Waterfront from 15 December – 6 Jan, promises to be a real treat with headline acts of high calibre and all local talent. Just some of the big names in the music lineup: Johnny Clegg, Freshlyground, Ladysmith Black Mambazo and the Parlotones. Plus there will be ballet, opera, jazz and a splash of circus too. And the location is going to be quite unique too. Picture this: a massive floating stage will be rigged up in the yacht basin in front of the 2 Oceans Aquarium, and a 2000 seater stadium on land. It should really add to the already vibey Waterfront precinct, with plenty of restaurants and bars nearby will make things really convenient for conert-goers.
