Sossusvlei: truly a place of wonder. Whichever way you approach it, this is some of the most spectacular mind-blowing scenery that one can imagine: towering red sand dunes framed by deep blue skies, with a scattering of gnarly old trees and the odd gemsbok that silently appear. This phenomen, created by the migrating sands from the Orange River in the south, is a must for any traveler to Namibia.

Climbing Dune 45 to watch the sunrise or set over this huge quiet landscape is a very peaceful and spiritual experience. I will never forget it: sitting in the fine red sand and letting it drift through my fingers…I can’t wait to go back. Or just watching the light change on the mountains from the comfort of your lodge varandah. Or taking a horse ride through this rugged landscape. Or hot air ballooning over it all. These are just some of the fabulous activities that one can expect to enjoy on a visit to Sossusvlei.
