Signal Hill – great views
If you are visiting Cape Town and want to get a great perspective of the city, mountain and surrounds without too much hassle, take a drive up Signal Hill Road from the top of Kloof Nek road. It is hard to beat for fabulous wide panoramas of Cape Town, taking in the full city bowl, including the CBD, Waterfront, Harbour, Robben Island, the Greenpoint 2010 soccer stadium, the 12 Apostles and the Atlantic Seaboard. Be sure to park on the corner just before you get to the Signal Hill car park for maximum viewing. Oh and it’s also pretty good for taking those classic “I was here” tourist pics of you, your family or friends. This one was taken on Wed evening at 5.20pm.
And then just around the corner, stop in the Signal Hill car park, where there are great picnic or sundowner options available, just wander around a bit and find yourself a quiet corner of grass or a bench and settle in and soak up the views of the Atlantic Ocean, Lion’s Head and the 12 Apostles. This is a seriously underrated and often unused area, with easy access and clean facilities, and only a 5 minute drive from town, Camps Bay or Sea Point. Check it out on the next peachy evening.
