Robben Island set to re-open

The legendary Robben Island, just off the coast of Cape Town (famous for mostly for its fascinating history) is set to re-open after being closed for a few weeks. Granted, it is not great timing, at the onset of peak tourist season, but probably best that these things are seen to. Especially after some gross mismanagement on the island and some recent re-shuffling of high level staff, it is good to see some positive actions being put in place.

Reasons for the brief closure were: the installation of a fleet of 6 new buses on the island, refurbishments to the ferries, and the management of an over-population of European rabbits. So capacity of tours to the island will now be greater and more efficient – we hope!

Have a look at this short clip for some historical and interesting info on the island:

Glad to here that it is now back in operation since there was such a big thing round the closing hope that all worked out and they got the rabbits under control
