Orange River canoe adventure

If you have not yet visited the remote wilderness area of the Richtersveld National Park, it is not to be missed. A canoe trip on the Orange River through here is a must. It by far the best way to view this quite astounding scenery. The Orange River itself, the lifeblood of this barren landscape, is flanked by ancient weathered mountains, and provides the perfect method of traveling through it. Here one can eat wholesome food cooked on an open fire after tackling some rapids, seeing some birdlife and floating along. Then fall sleep under the blanket of shooitng stars on the banks of the river to the sounds of the water. It is a simple yet awesome recipe, and an experience that you will never forget. Sometimes you feel like you are on the set of a spaghetti western or like an intrepid diamond prospecter, and most of the time you just kick back thinking nothing whilst soaking up the most peaceful atmosphere you have probably ever been in.
