Looking for somewhere unique to stay on your travels? Try the hottest new trailer park in town, situated on the rooftop of the Grand Daddy Hotel in Long Street, Cape Town. The Grand Daddy Hotel, recently launched, just added a rooftop trailer park, complete with seven authentic Airstream trailers that were hoisted by crane onto the roof. Each classic Airstream was customized by a local artist. Each of the polished chrome trailers sleep two people, and are embellished with design themes that include, among others, John and Yoko, Polka Dots and the Three Bears. The customisation is worked in throughout all the facilities (including bathrooms) required for the hotel to earn a 4 Star hotel rating.

We visited the hotel yesterday and were quite astounded by this daring “out of the box” concept. The hotel also features various other funky twists since its re-launch. The Daddy Cool bar is designed in super-bling gold, The Venue is a high-tech meeting and conference space, with balcony overlooking bustling Long Street, and the Showroom Cafe (the hotel restaurant) on street level is run by local celebrity chef Bruce Robertson.
