Eating out in the Western Cape this Christmas

There is always someone (or some people) behind the scenes responsible for putting together a Christmas feast. This Christmas, why not leave the slaving away in the kitchen to a professional, and join in on the celebrations? Restaurants all over South Africa are offering special Christmas menus. Here are some of those restaurants in Cape Town and surrounds:

Cape Town

Moyo (which also has stores in Gauteng) has a traditional African feast prepared for patrons this year. This traditional and African inspired hot and cold Christmas buffet can be devoured to the sound of the Mellow Tunes Quartet and Mbira Players while the kids are entertained by a Storyteller.

Time: 12:00 – 17:00

Cost: R250 p.p. Children – R85 p.p.

The creators of Fork have opened a Louisiana-style ribs eatery called Knife Restaurant. The restaurant is offering a special Christmas menu from 1 December. The menu is aimed at large groups, but smaller groups can be accommodated. The Christmas Platter Menu is either a two-course or three-course meal and is available for lunch and dinner. Hurry up and book a table for four now some time between 1 and 31 December, and you will be eligible to win a three-course meal, prepared at your own house.

Savour’s Christmas buffet menu comes with a never ending supply of Graham Beck Brut for the adults, while the children can munch on popcorn and watch DVD’s in the sound room.

Alexa promises a Mediterranean Christmas.

Time: 12:00 – 17:00

Cost: R240 p.p.

Mince piesLagoon Beach Hotel’s The Brasserie offers a buffet menu for Christmas Day lunch.

Time: 12:00 – 17:00

Cost: R180 p.p. Children – R60 p.p.

Protea Hotel Victoria Junction’s The Set has a Christmas buffet menu that will cause mouths to water.

Time: 12:00 – 23:00

Cost: R275 p.p.

Pure’s Christmas menu covers either four or six courses.

Time: 12:00 – 23:00

Cost: R400 p.p. for four courses, R500 p.p. for six courses

For a quaint, relaxed environment, head to The Food Barn in Noordhoek Farm Village, where there is a Christmas Day menu for adults as well as for kids.

Time: 12:00 – 15:00

Cost: R600 p.p., Children – R250 p.p.

Christmas Day can be celebrated in the beautiful Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens at the Silver Tree Restaurant.

Time: 12:00 – 17:00

Cost: R350 p.p., Children – R175 p.p. (includes entrance fee into the gardens)

The luxurious 12 Apostles Hotel is offering Christmas menus in both their Azure Restaurant (R945 p.p.) and Atlantic Terrace Marquee (R745 p.p.), where eggnog is provided on arrival and traditional treats are part of the package.

Time: 12:30 – 18:00


Zevenwacht: Christmas lunch – R335 p.p.

Lanzerac: Christmas lunch – R395 p.p. Children under 12 get a 50% discount. 12:00 – 17:00.

Kuils River

Saxenburg Wine Farm’s The Guinea Fowl Restaurant Christmas lunch is R275 p.p. and runs between 12:00 and 14:30.


Surfside Restaurant Christmas lunch is R170 for adults and R70 for children, 12:00 – 15:30.

Ben’s on the Beach Christmas lunch is offered at two sittings, one starting 11:00 for 11:30 and the other starting 13:30 for 14:00. The children’s menu (under 13) is R70 p.p.


Haute Cabriere Cellar RestaurantDutch East Christmas Eve menu – R350 p.p.

French Connection Christmas lunch menu – R325 p.p.

Haute Cabriere Cellar Restaurant Christmas lunch menu – R485 p.p.

Rickety Bridge Christmas lunch is available as a four-course set menu for R295 p.p.

Vineyard Restaurant is offering a Bread and Wine Christmas Lunch Menu for R385 p.p.

Dieu Donne Restaurant has a four-course Christmas Eve menu for R385 p.p. between 19:00 and 22:00 as well as a Christmas Day lunch buffet for R395 per adult and R85 per child between 12:00 and 15:00.

Holden Manz is also offering a Christmas Eve dinner for R550 p.p. and a Christmas buffet lunch for the same price.

The Restaurant at Grand Provence will offer a Christmas menu to reflect the season and pay homage to many traditional Christmas favourites. Meals will be served along with carefully selected wines.

    this Christmas, we were in Stellenbosch. we dined at beautifully served in a lovely setting. am not sure, if we availed any discounts but yes, a place worthy to try at. another awesome menu we got to see was at jan cats.
