Africa’s travel and tourism industry awaits important award ceremony

Some people who aren’t fortunate enough to attend the FIFA Soccer World Cup Semi-Final in Durban will join other keen fans to watch the anticipated event on big screens all over the country. One group of fans will be seated in the Sandton Convention Centre in and will consist of some of the key players in Africa’s travel industry.

The World Travel Awards (WTA), taking place on 7 July, recognises excellence in the travel and tourism industry. The Awards are regarded as the highest achievement that a travel product can ever hope to achieve.

Referred to as the “Oscars” of the travel and tourism industry, the WTA, established 17 years ago, is a global organisation encouraging improvement and development of travel and tourism. WTA events are universally respected. Tourism products receiving these awards indicate that they are of exceptional quality.
